Go Guide Tours' Commitment to Sustainability and Child Protection

At Go Guide Tours, we understand that tourism is a powerful tool for the economic, social and cultural development of the destinations in which we operate. However, we also recognize the great responsibility that tourism activity implies in terms of sustainability, respect for local communities and the protection of the rights of children and adolescents. For this reason, we have committed to complying with the highest standards of responsibility and ethics in each of our activities.

Commitment to Tourism Sustainability

Sustainable tourism is not just an option, but a necessity to guarantee that future generations can continue enjoying the natural and cultural destinations we have today. At Go Guide Tours, we implement practices that contribute to the conservation of the environment, the protection of cultural heritage and the promotion of responsible and ethical tourism.

Some of our actions in this regard include:

  • Responsible use of natural resources: We promote the efficient consumption of water and energy in our operations, as well as the reduction of waste though recycling and reuse practices.

  • Support for local communities: We work hand in hand with local artisans, producers and guides to generate a positive impact on the economy of the regions where we operate.

  • Protection of biodiversity: We promote respect for natural ecosystems, avoiding any type of activity that could affect the flora and fauna of our destinations.

  • Education and awareness: We train our collaborators and clients on sustainability issues, promoting conscious and responsible tourism.

Compliance with Legislation and Social Responsibility

Go Guide Tours is governed by local, national and international regulations regarding tourism and human rights. In particular, we strictly comply with Law 679 of 2001, which seeks to prevent and counteract child exploitation, abuse and pornography associated with tourism in Colombia.

Law 679 of 2001: Protection of Children and Adolescents in Tourism

Law 679 of 2001, also known as the Statute for the Prevention of Exploitation, Pornography and Sexual Tourism with Minors, establishes control and sanction measures against those people or entities that promote, facilitate or tolerate any form of child sexual exploitation in the tourist context.

At Go Guide Tours we take this responsibility seriously and have implemented a zero tolerance policy for any indication or suspicion of child exploitation. To do this, we carry out the following actions:

  • Training and awareness: All our collaborators receive training on Law 679 of 2001 and the necessary preventive measures to avoid any form of abuse or exploitation of minors.

  • Reporting protocols: We have internal mechanisms to report any suspicious behavior to the competent authorities.

  • Total rejection of child exploitation: We do not promote or facilitate activities that could put the integrity of children and adolescents at risk.

  • Working with responsible suppliers: We require our business partners and allies to comply with these regulations and adopt measures for child protection in tourism.

  • Information to our clients: We educate our tourists about the importance of reporting any case of child exploitation and we provide them with official reporting channels.

Sanctions and Consequences of Non-Compliance

Law 679 of 2001 establishes severe penalties for those who commit crimes of child exploitation in the tourism context. These sanctions include:

  • Significant financial fines.

  • Closure of establishments that facilitate these practices.

  • Criminal actions that can lead to deprivation of liberty.

As an operating agency, Go Guide Tours is committed to collaborating with the authorities to enforce these regulations and guarantee safe tourism free of child exploitation.

Promotion of Ethical and Responsible Tourism

Tourism should be an enriching experience for everyone involved, including local communities and visitors. At Go Guide Tours we promote tourism that respects the fundamental values of human dignity, security and equity.

What our clients can do:

As part of our social responsibility, we invite all our clients and collaborators to join this cause and actively contribute to more responsible and ethical tourism. Some ways to do this include:

  • Report any suspicious case: If during your trip you observe any situation of possible child exploitation, you can report it to the local authorities or to our company so that we can take the corresponding measures.

  • Do not participate in sexual tourism activities: Sexual tourism, especially when it involves minors, is not only illegal, but also violates the human dignity and safety of the people involved.

  • Find out about local laws and regulations: Knowing and respecting the legislation of the country you visit is essential to ensure responsible travel.

  • Support sustainable tourism initiatives: Opting for experiences that respect the environment and local culture helps create a positive impact on the communities visited.

At Go Guide Tours, we believe that tourism should be an activity that enriches the lives of people, both visitors and local communities. Our commitment to sustainability, legality and ethics drives us to continue working to ensure that our services are safe, responsible and respectful of human rights.

We reaffirm our position of total rejection of child exploitation and reiterate our commitment to compliance with Law 679 of 2001. We will continue to implement measures to prevent any type of abuse and we will promote tourism based on respect, safety and justice.

Together, we can make tourism a positive force for change and sustainable development.
